                                      Resident Evil 5

Tonight STFUandPlay.com staff went out to our local GameStop to check out the Resident Evil 5 midnight launch event.  Gamestop had an ad campaign asking customers to come to each launch location dressed up as zombies.  Passing out fliers to customers and people that had pre-ordered. We thought this would be a very interesting and fun concept and just had to see it for ourselves.  Days prior to the event this location had said they had great feedback from customers that pre-ordered the game and were expecting quite a few "zombies".

From what we saw the event was a huge flop, and it is unfortunate too because I thought this was actually a cool idea by Gamestop.  Personally I am not a Gamestop fan, but I thought seeing a few dozen people dressed and acting like zombies walking around a mall would have been cool to film.  The event was a total failure in our eyes, some of our other contacts that visited other launch locations had similar news to report. Dead. And no not zombies, just nobody.

The twenty five or so folks we saw that came to pick up their copy I felt was a bit disappointing. This is Resident Evil we are talking about here, one of the most popular IP's of all time. The store had let people in early to pre-pay then passed out games with the exchange of a reciept and by 12:15 AM the line was gone. The employees understandably did not allow us to film inside the store or let us interview them, but they also expected a larger turnout.

Even though "March Of The Living Dead" was a flop for Gamestop this game will sell in huge numbers for both systems, and we can't wait to get the chance to review it and let you know what we think.

So take a look at our video of the event, meanwhile  I think we will head home and play the game where we will have no problems finding zombies.

Yeah, the only real highlight was the zombie girl who is a regular at these kind of events. I'm wondering if there were other Gamestops around that had better turnouts. With "zombies" that is...
